Board Chairman and Deputy Elected

Clive Jermy was re-elected as Chairman of Deer Industry New Zealand for a further year with John Scurr elected Deputy Chairman.

Mr Jermy, who farms at Palmerston in Otago, was first appointed as a Board Member of Deer Industry New Zealand in 1993 and has been Chairman since 1999.

Mr Scurr farms at Wanaka and was appointed as a Board Member in 2002 as part of the transitional arrangements for the deer industry’s restructuring which saw the establishment of Deer Industry New Zealand last year.

Mr Jermy and Mr Scurr were both nominated to the Deer Industry New Zealand Board by the Deer Farmers’ Association.

The Board thanked outgoing Deputy Chairman Andrew Thomson of Wellington for his outstanding service as Deputy Chairman since 1997.  Mr Thomson is an independent appointee to the Board and stood down as Deputy Chairman as part of reforms which will see the position of independent appointee abolished when changes to the Board’s governing Regulations are made.  Mr Thomson remains a Board Member until these changes are made.
