TB Plan Review Webinar

Sep 9, 2025

The third webinar in our regular series, held the first week of every other month, was on the TB Plan Review, which is now open for consultation.

Listen to Dr Helen Anderson, Independent Chair of the TB Plan Review Governance Group, and Jonathan Rudge, TB Plan Review Lead, as they explain what is being proposed, how the proposal will be achieved and by when.

TB Plan Review

New Zealand has made great progress in reducing the impact of TB, but there’s more to do to finish the job. Livestock freedom from TB is within reach, with around a dozen herds – that’s less than about 0.01 percent – infected.

The milestone of zero infections by 2026 cannot be achieved while the disease remains in possums. The TB Plan Review proposes an increased focus on tackling the remaining infected possum hot spots to achieve TB freedom in both livestock and possums by 2040.

Farmers pay for the TBfree programme through levies and will have the chance to comment on the review proposals.
